ABOUT US

Sailing is a unique sport. Not only as host of the battle between human, machine, and nature, but as one of few professional sports where men and women compete together.

Onboard race boats, women face similar challenges as they do still in the boardroom – from discrimination to lack of developmental support. The Magenta Project is an award-winning global charity, created to build a sustainable network and programme to ensure more equity and inclusion for women in our sport.

WHAT WE DO

Mentoring programme 

The Mentoring Programme has supported the careers of 200+ women from 20 different countries with a 9+month mentoring curriculum designed to launch their careers in the marine industry.

Communication and Outreach

We are driving change through sharing inspiring stories and hosting important conversations with all stakeholders, including through events and panels.

Talent Development 

We partners with leading brands and events to offer clinics and workshops for training and recruitment of female talent including IMOCA, Foiling Week, North Sails, Harken, and Future Fibres.

Global Talent

Our footprint has a global reach and includes top-performing sailing talent, technical experts, and recognised female leaders – partners can tap into this network for appearances, speeches and activations. 

Policy and consulting 

We offer support and resources for organisations to adopt best practices and policies around equity, inclusion and safeguarding.

WOMEN IN SAILING REVIEW

In 2019 the World Sailing Trust carried out a strategic review into women in sailing which included an international survey, undertook nearly 40 1:1 interviews, and looked to other international sports to learn from our colleagues and peers
